From: Susan on 5 Jan 2010 13:52 Imagine this has been covered but I can't seem to locate it. Have Win 7 Ultimate. Running XP in virtual mode on it. FP seems to install fine and work in disk based mode. I start IIS...no problem. But when I install server extensions 2002, they do not appear in services list and are not functioning. I revert back to FPSE 2000 and they appear in services list and function about once. After that, using or creating a web on localhost seems to stop when it asks for login and password....which I did not create. Have tried various options to try to find login/password, but not luck. Would rather use FPSE 2002 anyway. Is there a way to get the 2002 server extensions up and running in XP Virtual Mode? Thanks
From: Ronx on 5 Jan 2010 14:58 What version of FrontPage 2002 extensions do you have - 32bit or 64bit? Or Windows 2003 version? Windows 7 XP Mode requires the 32bit version for Windows XP or Windows 2000. -- Ron Symonds Microsoft MVP (Expression Web) http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. From: Susan on 5 Jan 2010 20:07 Have both the 64 bit and 32 bit. Am running Win 7 64 bit. Was not sure which version I should use...tried both...had same problem either way. In any case, was not sure if XP Pro emulation is 64 or 32 from a Win 7 64 bit setup. From: Susan on 5 Jan 2010 20:12 I think from what I have read that I have the 32 bit version downloaded long ago from web. But just to be sure, is there still a site where I can get the correct version of FPSE to work with XP virtual mode? I'm gathering from you response/question that there is hope to get this working. Thanks for response "Ronx" <ronx917(a)hotmail.com> wrote in message news:O2129FkjKHA.3792(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > What version of FrontPage 2002 extensions do you have - 32bit or 64bit? > Or Windows 2003 version? > Windows 7 XP Mode requires the 32bit version for Windows XP or Windows > 2000. > > -- > Ron Symonds > Microsoft MVP (Expression Web) > http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp > > Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. > > > > "Susan" <susan(a)nospam.com> wrote in message > news:OiK9PhjjKHA.5052(a)TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >> Imagine this has been covered but I can't seem to locate it. >> >> Have Win 7 Ultimate. From: Ronx on 6 Jan 2010 02:57 There is no legal download for 32bit FrontPage extensions for any operating system, and hasn't been for about three years. XP mode on Windows 7 is 32bit only. If you have the exe (fpse02_x86_ENG.exe) then open the Windows XP Virtual machine, stop IIS. Remove all traces of FP2000 extensions and FP2002 extensions. Install the 2002 extensions by doubleclicking the .exe. Start IIS and configure the extensions using the Control Panel -> Administration Tools -> Microsoft Sharepoint Administrator To enable DWTs to work correctly you will also need officexp-kb813380.exe, and officexp-kb911831-client-ENu.exe which are updates to the original install file (and which may not be available now). -- Ron Symonds Microsoft MVP (Expression Web) http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread.
