A user had Word 2000 installed and just upgraded to Word 2007. Now
the user says styles defined and used in Word 2000 are do not appear
in the upgraded Word 2007. Where might these styles be, how to make
the styles visible again, etc?

Are they viewing the Styles task pane? If not, click the dialog box launcher
(arrow in the bottom right corner) of the Styles group on the Home tab. If
the styles are still not visible, at the bottom of the task pane, click the
Options link and you'll find the ability to control which styles display,
such as Recommended (default), All Styles, In Use, or In current document.

Note to make the desired view the default, make sure the option, "New
documents based on this template" is selected in the Style Pane Options
dialog box.

My apologies in the delay responding to this. The styles menu is
displayed and the styles from Microsoft Word 2007 are visible and
usable. The user defiend some styles in Word 2000 that the user
wants in her documents. After upgrading to Microsoft Word 2007, the
user-defined styles from Word 2000 are no longer visible. Are the
styles from Word 2000 not upgraded and carried along to Word 2007?

If the styles in Word 2000 are not upgraded, is the only solution
to re-create these styles in Word 2007?

Did you verify you are viewing "All Styles" in the task pane per my previous
reply?

Yes, I did verify. Under the Home tab the Styles 'group' is present
and seems to have all styles. I see no custom styles.
