I still have a 10.3 running, the last one on which I could make
mixminion run.

As for FF I just backleveled to 3.5.9 from 3.6.6 on an oss 11.2 system
for the same reason as the OP, it just wouldn't load!

Jump to a CLI and run firefox ... show us the output to the CLI:
mtobler(a)ren:~> firefox

If you want to get down to brass tacks, do this:
mtobler(a)ren:~> nohup strace firefox

When the prompt returns, you'll have a file called "nohup.out",
which will contain the results of 'strace', which will be much
more detailed about what's going on (than simply running firefox
and waiting for error output, which could be ambiguous). Of course,
you have to be a programmer geek to make sense of it :)

I'm running 3.6.6 on a 32 bit machine running 11.1. For some
reason I don't find 3.6.6 on the 64 bit repositories. I want
it for my 64 bit machine.
