Novell Client forces password change, Ver. 3.5.2. and LDAP
Jörn Frenzel wrote: Dear all, we have a strange behavior using Samba (Verson 3.5.2) as PDC with Open LDAP (Version 2.1.22) as backend and an old Novell-Client (version: 4.91 SP5) running on WinXP (SP3 and higher). The old PDC (Version 3.0.28) was running over years with the same LDAP-Server... 4 May 2010 03:32

[Samba] Long Delay on Fresh Windows 7 Clients
For testing purposes, I am running Windows 7 on a VM (VMWare), reverting to "fresh install" Windows 7 frequently. This Windows 7 client, needs to access a share on a local Samba server (Samba 3.0.23a-1 running on Fedora Core 4). When I type \\sambahost\sharename, a prompt for the username and password will eventuall... 2 May 2010 20:52
[Samba] Problems using multiple Samba servers in a Win2003 AD domain
I've been at this for days, and making no headway. It's very discouraging. I have a Win2003 domain, that has the Services for Unix extensions installed. I am trying to have multiple Samba servers as domain members. (in my case, one desktop sharing files, and one laptop, accessing the shares). And at the moment, it ... 2 May 2010 16:28
[Samba] Why do Interdomain trusts try to use kerberos - updated
On my test Samba PDC, I updated the krb5.conf file to add realm info for the Windows 2008. This seems to have resolved my "wbinfo" issue. "getent passwd" is still not working (I did update nsswitch.conf) but I suspect this is because of an idmap allocation issue. The syntax for idmap allocation in smb.conf see... 2 May 2010 14:14
How ot migrate from /etc/samba/smbpasswd -> LDAP ldapsam:trusted
Pdbedit should have some import /export commands. I don't remember if you want to change the smb.conf entry for backend before or after you do the import. I actually had the tdb backend for samba but already had the "unix" users in ldap. I was trying to update the accounts with the samba passwords, SIDs and o... 2 May 2010 14:14

[Samba] Forests, Domain Trusts, idmap (an idea for S4)
Hello all, I have largely only used samba in my home. I have several large projects I see coming for me that require domain trusts, forests and Samba 4. As I have been reading up on Samba 4, I have found several things people have mentioned that are being worked on or need to be worked on. One of which is ui... 1 May 2010 21:59
[Samba] Problems mounting shares from a samba server
I have an Active Directory 2003 domain, named DACRIB. This domain has Windows members, and 2 Samba servers as members. From one Samba server (DUAL-BOOTER), I can mount shares from the Windows clients on the domain. But I can not mount shares from the other Samba server; I always get "Permission denied". $ sudo... 1 May 2010 19:48
