[Samba] Authentication of local users (smbpasswd) fails with security = domain
Hi list, I have set up a samba installation (SLES 11, Samba 3.2.7) and joined a domain. I've created local users (/etc/passwd) and can authenticate with this users against the domain controller. Now I want to add a local user (with smbpasswd) and authenticate with this user which does not exist in the domain. ... 11 May 2010 06:46
winbind ubuntu 9.10 crashing machine

RE : RE : RE : Domain not found in Samba 4 AD
Hi 2010/5/11 Viatte Frédéric <Frederic.Viatte(a)rpn.ch> I do not think my error comes from my version of Alpha, in the other person, it worked! I did not try alpha11. I got it to work with the version from git about a week ago. But I think it should also work with Alpha 11. So I think my problem is el... 11 May 2010 03:32
[Samba] pam_winbind keytab permissions question
Question: Should the system keytab need to be world readable to be able to authenticate via winbind as a remote kerberos user? I don't seem to remember this being required in Samba 3.3 or earlier (but I could be wrong about that). And I didn't think it was a recommended configuration. Is this likely to be d... 11 May 2010 02:27
[Samba] Samba 3.5.2 : root and Domain Admins membership
Hello All, i noticed something odd after setting up a Samba PDC/domain. Seems that i am able to add machines to the domain by using the root account, but when i log on as root, it has no privileges to modify settings on the computer, particularly the computer name and Workgroup/Domain settings(they're grayed out) ... 11 May 2010 02:27

FreeIPA + samba 4, any news?
Hi, I'm not a developer but am using S4 as PDC for our Windows domain. Samba's LDAP+Kerberos also serve a number of Solaris and Linux machines with users, automount maps and all the things I needed so far. As expected (and the main reason to use S4) all clients use the same user credentials. So far I've seen no ... 10 May 2010 22:07
[Samba] Problems printing with samba 3.5.2
Ok, I finally deployed samba 3.5.2 (upgrading from 3.0.11) on the real server after testing for a while in virtualbox. There's a strange problem with printing: sometimes an application gives an error printing (of course the error message is meaningless, this is windows after all) and/or the job gets lost in transit.
