OK I'll try these, but in as far as Zune is concerned it is an awful media
player or whatever it calls itself. I really want to get rid of it WITHOUT
having to install it, since I remember it took FOREVER to install itself and
UI sucked.
Should I go ahead and delete these entries in the registry?

AVIRA has been a consistent application in that it has been far better than
the other pieces of craps that's out there.
Not too keen on your idea to re-install the OS if it's not absolutely
necessary.
So I am going to hazard my way through and go per SC Toms' suggestions as he
seems to have the handle on this.

Before you start deleting registry entries (hardly ever a good resort),
download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 . Start it up and see if any of your
problem programs are listed and use it to do a clean up. Be sure to try and
uninstall the programs through Add/Remove Programs first before using this
tool.

mentioned refer to "services
being unable to start"

so it is unlikely that they are
causing your system to crash
because the services are basically
disabled/unable to start.

although I'm an advocate of
maintaining the registry,

I don't really think that the
keys you mentioned should
be dealt with at this time.

instead I would focus on
relieving the memory of
programs that call upon
the keys you mentioned.

HOW do I go about doing this?
Again when I look at the Event Viewer it continues to show these services to
be the culprit. Is there a more comprehensive way for me to create a report
that I paste here so that for once and for all I can be given a more targeted
solution?
I am dreading the thought that someone else suggsted to have to re-install XP.
