No Sound Through Video Capture Card
I'm building a Linux system specifically for video capture in prep for yet another video games review site I want to attempt. She is running Debian Sid with Enlightenment as her desktop. I am having a helluva time trying to get things working properly. First of all, I just installed my old PCTV (bt878 based) TV t... 11 Aug 2010 04:56
cups printing stops half the way mostly
Hi, My printings print fine only if there is minimum to print on the page. If there are more content in the page, the printing will stop less than half of the page, only about 1/3 to be more correct. I believe it is a bug of current cups (and its driver), because the printer was working fine with Etch. It's... 1 Aug 2010 22:27

Help with Tar command
I am using tar within a monthly cron job, and found that my command line has an error. I 'think' I understand what it is, but I can't find any examples or explanation by reading the tar manual on the GNU website, or generally using google of how to work round it. I presume my cron job is being run with the cu... 1 Aug 2010 17:00

I know if I'm root, I can mount iso. but when I try to mount it, as I'm not root, 'mount' sais "mount: only root can do that". DPKG search by architecture
I can't for the life of me remember how to do it outside of CentOS, but we want to remove 32bit libs and simply leave a plain 64bit system, yes I removed ia32-libs but there are still some remains so does anybody remember how to search for packages by architecture? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-R... 1 Aug 2010 18:06
Argument to start_daemon, use of --
Hi, The example init script init.d.lsb.ex provided by dh-make 0.46 contains this call to start_daemon: start_daemon -p $PIDFILE $DAEMON -- $DAEMON_OPTS This always passes "--" as first argument to my daemon. Wouldn't start_daemon -p $PIDFILE -- $DAEMON $DAEMON_OPTS be the proper call? I haven't... 5 Aug 2010 08:02
