Iceweasel (from backports) keeps busy cursor at startup
Hello, I have udpated -in one of my testing computers running Lenny/GNOME- Iceweasel package from backports (now featuring 3.5.8). So far so good :-) But I have noted that when launching the program from taskbar icon (associated command "iceweasel %u") Iceweasel opens fine but mouse cursor keeps the busy st... 21 Mar 2010 16:12

iceweasel vs. Firefox
Stephen Powell writes: This is off topic, but why exactly did Debian have to rebrand Firefox as iceweasel for their distribution? Mozilla owns the "FIREFOX" trademark and threatens to sue anyone who applies that label to patched versions. Debian backports security patches (Mozilla refuses to do so). -- J... 21 Mar 2010 11:35
Booting from newly installed Kernel package?
Hello, I have installed the Kernel package Linux-image-2.6.32-4, but can't automatically boot from it. I thought I could just change the default number in /boot/grub/menu.lst, but the new kernel package is not listed in this file. Can I manually ad its details, and assign it a number? If not then what's the proce... 21 Mar 2010 10:29
Intel Core i5 integrated graphics
I just retired my 9 year old machine to home use and got a Gigabyte H55-UD3H motherboard with Intel Core i5 processor. Well, the first impressions are that maybe I should have done a bit more research since there are Realtek net and audio chips that might have some issues. Anyway, I have a 3com card for net and don... 21 Mar 2010 11:35

MTA takes so much time to start (at boot)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I think that it is a well-known thing that some MTAs (if not all) take some time to start (at boot). User invite is in QWERTY mode, even if my user layout is AZERTY
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, After the boot, I have chosen to start with a user window, which asks me the username & password of the user. The problem is that this invite window is in QWERTY mode, i.e. I need to write letters as if I was using a QWERTY keyboard (or, at least, layout). Onc... 21 Mar 2010 10:29
SCSI module eata no longer loading automatically from initrd on Sid on i386
Hi, I have a DPT 2044W SCSI adaptor in this pc for a non-boot disk, and previously had it working fine with dependency-based booting with the required SCSI module eata listed in /etc/modules, all under Debian Sid on i386. Module eata would load about 4 seconds into the boot before the "INIT 2.86" message appear... 21 Mar 2010 04:54

Backport question apology
Sorry everyone That "be sure" remark was pretty stupid. I guess I've been burned in the past with inane answers. Thanks for the help. It really is appreciated.
