Capture Date
Tifs from scans and possibly other images don't show a capture date, which is the common way I keep track of things. I store my images by date in a directory tree -- yyyy/mm/dd/image and I want the capture date to exist and to match the directory. That's fine with jpg and various RAW formats but not for tifs.... 31 May 2010 16:23

Foxconn, Apple's factory of death
Why are the workers offing themselves? According to the ACFTU the proportion of China's GDP that goes towards wages and salaries has continued to shrink since 1983, having dropped from 65.5% in 1983 to 36.7% in 2005. Meanwhile the proportion of returns on capital in GDP had risen by 20% in the 27 years through 2... 6 Jun 2010 16:03

Why P&S's should do some reading before taking the plunge with real cameras
Perfect example. Guy shoots a Panasonic GH1 hand-held at 1/3 sec and f16 and wonders why his shots aren't sharp. P&S's are weaned on cameras that have infinite DOF and limited apertures (often don't close down to lower than f6.3) so to them, the discipline needed to shoot a DSLR or EVIL camera is alien. http:/... 9 Jun 2010 19:49
Flower macros
A couple of flower macros for you to enjoy (and/or critisize). They might do well in the Wallpaper Shootin too, especially 4 and 5. But I already submitted a different shot. http://www.arumes.com/temp/macro/ -- Regards, Robert http://www.arumes.com ... 3 Jun 2010 20:09
How far have P&S's come?
Not as far as you might think. They are much faster when it comes to processing, hugely faster. On the order of 5-10x in some cases. Resolution is also much higher than years ago. But for image quality, not as far. Below are images taken with a 2004 Nikon Coolpix 5400 with 5 megapixels and a Panasonic LX3 (2009... 31 May 2010 09:46
