That must be the attraction!

The iPad is a trinket. Like jewellery, it serves no useful purpose
except to adorn. Like the brand on an item of clothing, it makes a
statement about the wearer.

Style before substance. Cool but fundamentally useless. ;-)

nonsense.

maybe to you it's useless but not to the nearly two million (by now)
who bought one.

it's not free on the kindle:
<http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GFK7L6>

however, you can still visit the nytimes web site for free or use the
free nytimes application.

depends on the source. netflix obviously requires an account but
youtube does not. slingbox for ipad is due out soon, as is hulu.

that's an *optional* data plan, no contract required, activate and
cancel at any time.

quite a few. have you seen dslr camera remote for the iphone? that's
going to be *really* slick for the ipad.

Two million lemmings cannot be wrong, eh?

For them, the purpose of owning an iPad is to own an iPad. I
congratulate Apple for making ownership of such a fundamentally
useless item so desirable!

Coming soon from Apple: The Emperor's New Clothes.

you've asked them?

useless to you, not to them.
