Rob, you didn't say it. Jean-Yves is saying the 48-series didn't have
Choose Boxes. In other words, flag -117 wasn't available on the
48-series. This option didn't come on the scene until the 49-series
(along with new flags 64 to128). As J-Y said, HP's Equation Library
didn't come back until ROM ~2.0. Therefore, the EQ lib and flag -117
(Soft menus vs. Choose boxes) didn't become an issue until a year or so
ago.

I could add that if you set the 49/50 to work as the 48: approximate
mode, soft menu, then EQL will work just the same way (just faster as
it's using the new EQW)

Rob seems to be suggesting that it might benefit 50G sales
if no one else experienced any "hiccups" trying to use it on 50G,
even if they neglected to have scoured the manual to find relief.
