Timeout of SMTP servers
Hi List, RFC2821 section 4.5.3.2 Timeouts reads "An SMTP server SHOULD have a timeout of at least 5 minutes while it is awaiting the next command from the sender." When I try to connect to an one.com mx (mx-cluster1.one.com or mx-cluster2.one.com) I notice they will close the connection after about 3 second... 23 Jan 2010 15:26
SOLVED: rbl check being skipped - Postfix logs no error on NXDOMAIN,does on SERVFAIL
Stan Hoeppner put forth on 1/22/2010 1:28 AM: I've wondered for a couple of months why my rbl check is being skipped. I've not seen a spamhaus entry in my logs since Sept 25 '09. Interestingly, postgrey is being called now and then, and it is after the rbl check in main.cf. Any idea why my rbl check is b... 22 Jan 2010 14:05
mail for mx2.youngguns.nl loops back to myself
Hi list, I had a problem with my primary mailserver which was not able to deliver mail to some remote mx's. One of the mx's that we couldn't deliver to was mx-cluster[1-2].one.com. After I modified the transport maps on mx1.youngguns.nl (stevie.youngguns.nl) the message now is deliverd to mx2.youngguns.nl (marcu... 22 Jan 2010 04:00

Change behavior of return code
Hi, I'd like postfix to treat EX_CANTCREAT (73) as "temporary failure". I use this command to deliver my mails: mailbox_command = /usr/bin/formail -D 8192 ~/.msgid.cache -s /usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver The problem is that if the filesystem containing home directories is not mounted, formail returns an EX_... 22 Jan 2010 05:06
Exclude recipients from pre-queue spamass-milter checks?
We are experimenting with spamass-milter to check mails and reject them if a configured spamassassin score is reached. That part works, but the milter is (of course) applied to all mails after our smtpd_recipient_restrictions lookups return OK for the recipient, i.e. also postmaster@<various domains> for whom w... 20 Jan 2010 16:18
Error: timeout exceeded (in reply to end of DATA command)
Hi list, I have a problem with delivering mail to a host and get this error: host mx2.amsterdam.nl[145.222.14.10] said: 421 enepmx02.amsterdam.nl Error: timeout exceeded (in reply to end of DATA command) This error only seems to occur with 'large' mails. suppress NDRs from spoofed sender
My mail server has been getting a fair amount of spam hits that have been rejected but the sender address is spoofed with the recipient's address. This generates an NDR to the recipient with the spam. I would like to suppress NDRs of this kind but not legitimate NDRs. Regards, David Koski david(a)kosmosislan... 20 Feb 2010 14:39
The method behind the madness
I realize the developers and senior ops may be a bit irritated by some of my recent queries. I plead ignorance - and a desire to improve. I currently utilize ASSP as my primary filter. In the past, I have heard that there is nothing ASSP does that cannot be done utilizing alternative tools - in many cases bu... 19 Jan 2010 21:27
Postfix sender reputation support in snapshot 20100117
postfix-2.7-20100117 changes the meaning of content filters of the form "transport:" (note: no next-hop destination) so that this form can be used to implement sender reputation schemes. Typically, mail is split into classes, and all mail in class X is sent out from an SMTP client IP address that is reserved for c... 18 Jan 2010 10:52
