[Samba] ERROR: Unable to fetch machine password for DLEL70$@ in domain
I'm new to SAMBA, so I apologize up front if I ask a dumb question! We upgraded from solaris 8 (samba2.2.8a) to solaris 10 and installed samba 3.2.4. When user tried to use samba, they got "Failed to open /usr/local/samba/private/secrets.tdb". I thought maybe the file just needed to be there, so I touched the new fi... 11 Sep 2009 12:52

[Samba] Lightweight NetBIOS host enumeration in Python
After giving up on trying to slim down smbtree, I've seemingly worked out enough of the NetBIOS and SMB/CIFS protocols to implement a bare-bones replacement in Python. At less than 500 lines, it's pretty easy to follow, though it's very hackish and badly needs a clean rewrite (which I'm working on now, in C). I... 11 Sep 2009 06:14

[Samba] compiling samba-3.4.x on RHEL4
hello when I try to compile samba-3.4.x on RHEL4 with the samba.spec in the packaging folder I always get this error: Compiling ../lib/talloc/talloc.c .../lib/talloc/talloc.c:50:21: replace.h: No such file or directory .../lib/talloc/talloc.c: In function `_talloc_realloc': .../lib/talloc/talloc.c:987: error: ... 10 Sep 2009 06:56
Problem with Samba 3.4 Franky: Internal Error starting Samba3
I've investigated further onto this problem by starting smbd with debug level 10. The "no version information available" message seems not to be the problem. It further looks like smbd can generally connect to the Samba4-ADS ("pdb backend ads has a valid init" and several successful pathtree_add, though my inte... 8 Sep 2009 05:55

[Samba] Problem with Samba 3.4 Franky: Internal Error starting Samba3
Hi all, I got a problem while trying to set up a Samba 3.4 Server in hybrid-mode. After trying for some time I managed doing a merged-build of Samba3 and Samba4 and I can now start samba4 without getting errors. However, the same is not true for Samba3: starting it, I get the below error message. Has anyone ... 7 Sep 2009 08:51

[Samba] smbd uses 10 to 15% CPU w/Vista client
For quite awhile I've noticed that smbd uses 10-15% of my CPU (Pentium 4) when nothing visible is going on. I have a couple of laptops on my home network, and some experiments showing that powering on the Vista laptop (other is OSX) is sufficient to raise useage from 0 to 10-15%. The screen is locked, although 2... 6 Sep 2009 19:47
