[Samba] FW: smbd *not* breaking hard links when saving files
Hi Tim et al., Yes, I can see that the new behaviour would seem like an 'optimization', possibly especially for large files, in that it saves the unlink operation. was (quasi): unlink, open(write), write data, close now is (quasi): open(write, truncate), write data, close However, this old behaviour enabled... 28 May 2010 11:33
Can only see files one level deep
I have limited experience with Macs in conjunction with samba but so far it seems to have been working fine for me. What happens if you create a directory with 777 permissions in unix? can you "ls -l" the directory from a mac terminal? My guess is that one of the "x" bits got lost so you can't traverse the ... 18 Jun 2010 14:39
[Samba] libsmbclient licensing
Dear Samba team, We have developed cross-platform multiprotocol intranet file searcher and it includes the module (SMB scanner for *nix) which uses libsmbclient to enumerate all files on smb shares ("uses" means including headers and linking with library). Other modules also use some external libraries, but ... 28 May 2010 07:09
PDC migration from suse 8.2 - samba 2.2.7 ldap - to latest versions on ubuntu 8.04
Hello! So in the end LDAP has been converted with the provided conversion script and is not a problem anymore. For reference, we said we needed net getlocalsid but I found that also smbpasswd -X DomainName or -S DomainName outputs the domainsid :-) (for some reason I have no net command albeit having smbclient ... 28 May 2010 06:04

[Samba] Samba Windows Domain Member Server & Windows 7 Clients
Hello! I have a problem with a Samba server on Debian Lenny, which I joined to my Windows Domain using Kerberos and Winbind. Windows XP and Windows Vista users can authenticate against Active Directory when accessing the Samba Server well, but Windows 7 clients are always rejected, Windows is stating that the userna... 28 May 2010 05:00

[Samba] samba authentication fails with trusted domain
We are using samba with domain authentication against a windows AD. The account domain is AA. All our hosts (windows and samba systems) and a few generic user accounts are in a domain TT which trust the accounts from AA. In Short our smbd.conf has: . . . security = domain workgroup = TT . . . Normally a us... 28 May 2010 05:00
