No clues from me unfortunately, but this is the right place to start
there may be someone with more experience who has an idea as to what the
problem is. You may want to remove your .wine and try the above again,
seeing as you copied it from fedora you never no what differences there
might be . . .

My bad, you've already done this I see . . . I believe Mandriva has a
demo version or something of crossover office, it's bound to work with
that, though I don't know what all the conditions are . . .

I have given up on Wine under Mandrake on my home PC. It has never
worked, it won't even create the .wine subfolder for any user, even root.

That's trying with the "official" wine release for 2006 Free, or with
the "official" wine downloadable RPM, or with a from-scratch build of Wine.

The few times I "fooled" it into running by copying a .wine subfolder/etc.
from another machine it complains incessently about a missing rundll32 and
other folders.

I've since moved over to Suse 10 on my desktop system, it works just fine
(with the same /home partition as the Mandrake system) and resolves a lot
of my other issues, including twinview metamode issues, soundcard
problems, wireless network issues, etc. etc.
