H-inf and Kalman references for a controls person
-Hello all, Does anyone have some good references on H-inf filter and Kalman filters for a controls person? I am pretty familiar with how these work (and the associated algorithms) in a controls context and I am trying to broaden my horizons with their DSP-sister uses. Thanks for your time. Kalman filter with non-white noise
Hi, Is it possible to make the Kalman filter work with non-white measurement noise? I have measurements which have non-zero mean, uncorrelated error. I read about pre-whitening filters. But could not understand how to use them in combination with Kalman Filter and the given measurements. Thanks. ... 20 May 2010 17:11
skewness in freq. domain....
Hello Forum, given a signal x(t) with complex spectrum X(w), its power or energy is given by the integral of x(t)^2. The same power or energy information is given by the product of X(w)X*(w)=|X(w)|^2 (it must be a positive quantity, multiplication of a complex number by its conjugate). What does the integra... 20 May 2010 12:45
Power Spectrum
If I have two spectra of identical shape and hence the same area but one is say 6dB lower than the other, what is the interpretation of this? The areas are the same so the variance (ie average power) must be the same in both. Of course the noise floor of one is lower than the other but the signal is also lower in d... 20 May 2010 16:05

Vehicle Backup Detection
Hello All, Looking for some advice on how to detect if a vehicle is backing up (reversing) using measurements from a 3 axis accelerometer and compass. I also have accurate measurements of velocity from a wheel speed sensor. Cheers arvkr ... 20 May 2010 13:52

Let's assume at us is available 1024 discrete samples. Further it is carried out FFT. Whether probably from received 1024 spectral samples to receive 256 spectral samples which are equivalent as if we have executed FFT only on 256 input discrete samples? ... 20 May 2010 16:05

sinusoids and aliasing...
Hello forum, while a composite signal (made of many sinusoids), if sampled at a sampling frequency f_s at least twice the largest frequency in the signal, can be "uniquely" reconstructed from its samples, a continuous pure sinusoid of freq f instead, no matter if sampled at twice or more its frequency, will give s... 19 May 2010 12:39
