On-line warranty purchases?
As I mentioned in another article, I often shoot in extreme conditiions and have been very lucky not to have had any accidents or water/grime/etc issues. However... I can't expect to go where I go in the conditions I go out shooting in and expect that luck to continue. I have liked the Ritz warranty in the past... 17 Mar 2010 22:18

batch resize csr and irfan query
Hi folks. I had a pc running WINDOWS 7. Photoshop CS3. Set up a batch resize to 1024*680 and had a file size around 120kb which I was happy to upload to Flickr. Then I sold the pc and brought a laptop. Transferred CS3 to the laptop and set up the same batch routine, but my file sizes now are aroundf 550kb... 15 Mar 2010 06:48
The system is all put together, ready for software. I was about to by CS4 today, and get on with things. But questions arose: CS5 is due out fairly soon, and it is supposed to be better set up for 64 bit systems. Which means I may very well want to upgrade. So, the question: How well (or poorly) does Adobe ... 14 Mar 2010 13:09
Why are 5x7 digital prints so expensive?!?!?!
I recently bought an HD camcorder which also takes digital pix. (This is my first time doing digital -- been shooting 35mm for 20+years.) Where I get my film developed, a roll of 24 is $1 extra for 5x7s, vs 4x6. To get 24 5x7 prints in digital, however, would cost upwards of TWENTY DOLLARS more!!!!! Any idea why... 15 Mar 2010 11:12

By the way, the AF of one of the Canon DSLRs failed, forcing the photographer to continue with just one camera. Are Canon DS... 14 Mar 2010 06:32

How important are lens hoods?
I'm trying to reduce the volume of camera related stuff that I haul around with me when traveling. I use a Nikon D80 with three different lenses (30mm f1.4, 18-135mm F3.5, and 70-300mm f4.5). Each lens has a different hood to go with it. My question is, just how important are lens hoods? Would I be likely to m... 4 Apr 2010 12:37
If any of you are going to be in the Provo/Salt Lake City, Utah (USA), area in the next couple of months, I highly recommend the "From Daguerreotype to Digital: A History of Photography" exhibit at the Harold B.
