Newbie: When to use Symbols, when not

Delaying progressive download with FLVPlayback component

Weird FLVPlayback problem - tracing every frame
Has anyone experienced this problem with the FLVPlayback component? I am using it from within a class, and using buttons to change the movie being played. When I do this my_video.contentPath = my_str; it loads and plays the movie....but it is tracing out a huge load of gobbledegook every single frame like... 30 Jan 2006 15:59

hyperlink HTML tag <a href...></a>
I'm importing text from an external .txt file, and all the tags I use work great, including the hyperlink tag. However... This tag works beautifully with simple "http://www.whatever.com" URLs. action script to determine photo based on URL
I'm trying to do a nav bar (with one big photo) for a website and the idea would be to have the photo change depending on where you are at in the site.
