can a DHCP request recieved on eth0 also assign an IP to eth1?
Usually I assign essentially static I/Ps based on MAC addresses via a DHCP server. i.e. the day a new server is added to the network a unique association between its MAC and I/P is developed. (by manually adding its eth0 MAC to the dhcpd.conf file) But now, each server will be having twin etc cards. The new ca... 11 May 2010 21:13

getting eth cards to get eth0 and eth1 names correctly
I have 2 different eth cards in a bunch of machines: a 1Gig and a 10Gig. Each is a different vendor. How can I always make the 1 Gig come up as eth0 and the 10Gig as a eth2? The MACs are of course all different, but the first 4 places of each vendor are unique. i.e. Vendor1's cards (the 1GigE's) start with 00... 30 May 2010 19:46

ACLs on XFS via NFS
Hello, I'm running 2 Gentoo systems with kernel 2.6.33.3 and .2. The server (.3) exports some directories via NFS. I have setup some dirs with ACLs, in which a group gets full access. On the NFS client (.2) I can mount the NFS exports, but I can't see any ACLs. In both kernels the NFS and ACL support is com... 10 May 2010 08:45
Why is Hulu better with Windows?
I've watched some old TV episodes on Hulu with both linux Mint and WinXP. They both do fine in the small window. If I select full screen its choppier with linux than with WinXP. With WinXP it is barely watchable, with linux it isn't. I don't have a real fast internet connection. I have a medium speed DS... 9 May 2010 12:07

Better fsck on boot ???
Every so often one of my systems will fsck at boot time. This happens either because of a bad shutdown, which is pretty rare, or because a partition reaches a maximum boot count allowed between fscks, which is around 25 boots. This is a good thing to do to maintain a healthy system, and I want to keep this behav... 11 May 2010 19:01
FC12, ethernet interface stops working
I have a machine with dual onboard E1000 NICs. Recently, I changed the OS from CentOS 5.4 x64 to FC12 x64, and have since encountered a problem with the networking. This machine mounts one CIFS share, and also serves out one share via Samba. Whenever the machine encounters moderate network activites (say, be... 6 May 2010 18:43
