Calc- re-calc doens't work

I upgraded from Oo 3.1 to 3.2. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 My favorite calendar spreadsheet is messed up now. There are 2 thin red horizontal lines that run parallel to each other across the entire sheet. Typically, to move my cell position/cursor below these 2 lines requires a wait of around 15 seconds.
