mplayer:no keyboard under framebuffer mode
root <NoEMail(a)home.org> wrote: Problem solved: all my troubles were caused by SDL. I had to stop SDL from setting the keyboard into raw mode. For the record, SDL does this in SDL_fbevents.c which is in src/video/fbcon. For a couple of weeks now I have been blaming mplayer for the problems. ... 6 Jul 2010 22:13

MySQL version
Hi, I have Slackware 12 running fine, with the MySQL server that came with Slackware. Now I want to use OpenOffice MySQL connector, but that only works with MySQL > 5.1, and Slack's version is 5.0.x Before trying to replace my current version, I would like to know whether it would be safe at all to put a non-... 6 Jul 2010 23:18
apache and logrotate
Hi, logrotate rotates /var/log/httpd/access_log and /var/log/httpd/ssl_request_log. Everithing works fine for access_log, but apache goes on writing on the old ssl_request_log, now renamed with ".1". The new ssl_request_log remains empty. This is /etc/logrotate.d/httpd: /var/log/httpd/*_log { postrot... 6 Jul 2010 17:46

Downloading 13.1?
I've been trying for a week or more to get Slackware 13.1 via ftp, http and bittorrent without success. The Slackware torrents page seems okay except that torrents don't start up, and the mirrors for my locality (Australia) are either non-respomsive or can't be found. I'm not having any of these problems except wit... 29 Jul 2010 02:05
What happened to sun & java?
Some time back I read that 'sun was being sold'. Previously I read that java was one of the most used languages. And from the launch of java, till recently, there were several versions, which was annoying, since whenever I wanted to test a java-based tool, it needed the latest java version which I didn't have. ... 30 Jul 2010 10:45
kgpg problems
Every time I reboot, kgpg opens with gpg.conf errors then displays an empty keyring. I have to delete gpg.conf that gets created each time and then restart kgpg to get my keyring back. Is there a fix or could it be something I have set wrong? Another problem is aesthetic. kgpg doesn't store some of my wind... 4 Jul 2010 07:55
Firefox 3.6.6 / Slack 13.0 x86_64 - So Slowwwwww....
Hi, Since I updated to Firefox 3.6.6 it is so slow. It takes minutes to start up, and then the perfornance is awful. Scrolling up and down a page - sometimes OK and sometimes it momentarily freezes. And sometimes clicking links is not responsive. Seamonkey 2.0.5 is like lightning on the same pages in compariso... 8 Jul 2010 02:37
How to add block devices to initrd-tree?
How do I add block devices to my initrd-tree when building a initrd.gz file using mkinitrd (Slackware 13.1)? I want to setup the initrd.gz so that I can use it to mount a USB hard drive, then subsequently boot a partition on it. I succeeded in using mkinitrd to make a initrd.gz that (together with lilo) allows... 9 Jul 2010 00:43
