Boot problem with second SATA hard drive I have three hard drives installed in my system, a SATA drive containing Windows XP, another SATA drive that was until this morning empty, and an IDE drive with data on it. This morning I disconnected the power to my WinXP drive, and then installed Vista on the other SATA drive. I did it like this as I want th... 9 Dec 2006 10:07
Computer crash-need recovery My #1 XP computer crashed on boot-up, now does not boot-up into any mode, not "safe", nothing. It will let me access the "recovery partition" to re-format the drive and re-install initial windows set-up, but this would erase all my data and programs so this would be my last resort. I have a second XP computer and p... 9 Dec 2006 15:34
iPod Question Actually, the question's directed at iPods and similar mp3 devices. I'm looking for one for my son, but I've heard that some of these things do one or more of the following nasty things: 1) Require proprietary software for transferring mp3 files to the music player 2) Somehow "commandeer" your computer, for... 8 Dec 2006 18:22

I have a USB flash stick which works ok but always prompts a message "this device could work faster if" etc. I am told it's because the flash stick is USB 2.0 but my Intel "USB controller" is pre that. I need a power supply with at least 400 watts, and the extra 12 volt connector. It must be capable of running the latest AMD systems with enough power to run four hard drives and three optical drives. I want to avoid no-name supplies with exa... 8 Dec 2006 18:22

new ide hard disk recommendation Hi ! I'm looking for a larger capacity replacement for my current 80GB WD IDE Hard Disk. I was going for a 160Gb, but I see my local store offers the double of that capacity for only a few extra bucks. I'm not interested by capacities larger than 320 Gb. That store also carry many known manufacturers (... 5 Dec 2006 23:34
emachines 370 Suspect monitor connection is dead? Hi, damned annoying. Turned on my e370. Power led lit, CPU spinning but no monitor display. Changed to a new monitor , still nothing. Upgrade To PCI Express x16 Well, I'm being left in the dust. I thought my HP could handle Neverwinter Nights 2, but find that my graphics card isn't up to snuff. I've got a HP763n with three PCI and one AGP slot. It looks like the video card I need requires a PCI Express x16 slot. So, is there an easy way to upgrade? Even if it's some ... 4 Dec 2006 20:51
E-machines T2742 Wont Boot When I press the Power On/Off button on my desktop nothing happens. I thought it was a bad power supply so I ordered and installed a new one. This did not resolve the issue. Some observations: - The Power On/Off button's LED wont light up. - There is one LED that is green on the Intel motherboard above the ... 2 Dec 2006 12:40 |
