Not quite Tony refuses to face the problem. He equivocates,
procrastinates and quibbles over spelling and almost anything he can
rather than face the problem. It is all some one else's problem and
nothing to do with him.

"Denial" is refusing to recognize and admit that there is a problem.
Both my wife and I recognize and admit that there is a very serious
problem. She does not think the solution to the problem is to stop
attending the church of her choice or that it in any way contributes
to any solution.

Fair enough her church has only had one pedophile in the last 30 years
(that you know of) and it protected him. So I suppose all is right with
the world if you can turn a blind eye.

Like either you or your wife had any choice in the matter since your parents
baptised you as a baby.

As you say, we really don't know if only one was attached to the
parish. We only learned this long after he was gone. It came up
because he was exposed in another parish and his history was traced.

We - my wife and I - don't know if he committed any abuse while
stationed at our parish. The assumption is he did, but no one has
come forth and stated so.

According to the limited information released, he wasn't a pedophile.
He was a sexual abuser of teenaged boys. Pedophilia is abuse of
children who have not reached the age of puberty. Personally, I don't
make a distinction between the two classifications from a morality
standpoint.
