Couldnt read MT8888
Hi.. I'm trying to build my own PSTN-based home controller. Yes, I know that many would suggest to build IP-based one. The problem is subscribing internet here is far more expensive than subscribing PSTN-line. Sucks.. Anyway, I use AVR Mega8535 with MT8888 so I can control my house and get its status (throu... 26 Jul 2005 13:21
EasyAVR problem

flyback smps using lm2585-adj
I may be somewhat off topic but i've ran into a mountain i cannot seem to get over regarding the hardware design of a switching mode power supply. I'm using an LM2585-ADJ simple switcher chip from National in a non-isolated flyback configuration to generate 3 output voltages: 3.3, 15, and -15. The monitored (fe... 26 Jul 2005 09:43
Chipcon & other RF transcievers?
Hi everyone. Has anyone here used Chipcon transciever parts? I'm thinking about using the CC2500 or maybe the CC110 for a project and wanted to find out the pro/cons for these devices. Also, is anyone aware of a part in this class (embedded RF, SPI or UART interface) that can do 1 Mbps? Finally, how goo... 16 Jul 2005 11:56
MSP430 - IAR vs gcc
Having an IDE to work with is great, but is IAR worth the bucks? 1 - will it save that much time? Including learning time - especially for someone used to IDEs like Visual Studio? 2 - are there opportunities with the MSP430 to earn back the cost of IAR? 3 - are there any good IDE front ends for mspgcc? (and the d... 2 Jul 2005 16:55
how to generate time delay
What is the best way to generate a time delay in a waveform. (I understand how I could use a monostable one-shot to create a pulse. Then I suppose letting another signal trigger off the trailing edge of this pulse. But I cannot find a gate that triggers off the trailing edge.) Thanks in advance, JD ... 2 Jul 2005 04:11
MSP430, gcc -> IAR
I'm an experienced C/C++ programmer, but very new to Embedded programming. I've bought the TI Flash developers kits that include the IAR compiler. I have some existing msp430gcc code, but there are some differences - particularly in how interrupts are declared. The issues I need to resolve: 1) some of my in... 3 Jul 2005 16:19
8051/LCD in 4-bit mode problem
Hello I am using Keil compiler and C in order to program an 8051 microcontroller. I want to drive a Varitronix LCD module (MDLS-16265B-led04) which is connected in 4-bit mode (LCD data bits D4-D7 to P2.0-P2.3 on the microcontroller). Although I have read many tutorials and documentation about LCDs (many of them intro... 29 Jun 2005 12:04
