Swapping my computer hardware (mobo, CPU, etc.) with Debian... Hello, I am planning to uprgade my old Debian/Linux box (Kernel 2.6.17-2-K7; Athlon XP)'s hardware since I am getting a newer and faster system. I would like to toss my gaming box's hardware (Athlon 64) in that mid-tower ATX case) as an upgrade (faster Linux box). The other stuff like HDTV tuner, TV card, soun... 18 Dec 2006 18:06
general protection rip & rsp i'll get these kind of errors on a amd64 bit system ( dual core opteron ), with kernel 2.6.16.21-0.25-smp. Especially tftp causes these errors ( but also nscd, su ). Is this a kernel issue ( and thus can be resolved by an upgrade ), or is it just the hardware . h8sll motherboard, dual opteron 1800 Mhz, 3ware rai... 13 Dec 2006 17:21
Is Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 Linux Compatible ? Hi, After reading some reviews of Digital SLR cameras in the 500$ range I am begining to like Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50. I use linux exclusively. So I would like to know if this camera is compatible with linux. Also would appreciate what to look for to ensure linux compatibility. Is Picture Transfer Mode enough. ... 12 Dec 2006 00:15
Printer recommendation I've been looking at the 2600n for home. But, having just seen it in the store (next to other printers), it seems a little bulky. I'm wondering if there's something about as capable but smaller. Needed are: * Network connected * Postscript * Color * Laser (or at least w/o the need to use the pr... 14 Dec 2006 16:20
SATA on Intel ESB2 chip We recently got a server based on the SuperMicro X7DBE+ board, i.e., the Intel 5000P chipset, with SATA disk I/O done by the ESB2 chip. In the BIOS we can set Legacy mode (the default), or AHCI mode. From what I read on <http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Hardware/sata.html>, AHCI has a number of advantages, like NCQ (not... 13 Dec 2006 14:37
2.6.x and fx2lp bulk_write errors I use USRP-like firmware on Cypress' FX2LP chip with a x86 Linux 2.6.x host. The problem is quite simple: When I run a program (let's call it usb_test1) and it calls the usb_bulk_write function twice it works fine: ========= usb_test1 usb_bulk_write(stuff) usb_bulk_write(morestuff) ========= ....but say ... 8 Dec 2006 21:05
Looking for a PCI-X ATA 8-channel hard drive controller. I realize this is fairly specific, which is why google has failed me and I come to Usenet. I'm looking for a (obviously linux- compatible) ATA hard drive controller (RAID is OK, but won't be used, I use MD RAID). It needs to be PCI-X OR PCI-64/66 and have either 4 channels with the capability for two drives pe... 22 Dec 2006 13:43
Deskpro: can't boot from hd, or run setup from floppy; not newbie, have rtfm Posting to c.o.l.s because machine runs only Linux, to a.s.p.c because it's clearly a Compaq firmware issue, and to c.o.l.h because the firmware might as well be hardware, since I don't (yet) know how to change it. This problem is not for the faint of heart. I have read the manuals on the Compaq website, tried ... 4 Dec 2006 14:17
8139-based Airlink ASOHORL PCI network card not working under 2.6? I'm using Ubuntu 5.10 (x86) and just popped in a cheap Airlink ASOHORL 10/100 PCI network card, which I bought because it was something like $5 and promised Linux compatibility on the box. The card is based on the RTL-8139C chipset (according to rtl8139-diag). However, when I add the card to /etc/network/interfac... 27 Nov 2006 10:26 |
