Logs and dumps for kernel panics to collect and analyze?
Hello. Is /var/log/syslog the only place where Linux keeps records of kernel (v2.6.30 and v2.6.32) panics? dmesg and /var/log/messages doesn't seem to show anything about the crashes unless I am misreading them. I am trying to figure out a rare and random kernel panic issue on my old Debian box. I know it... 10 Mar 2010 14:11
HDD problems causing Kernel panics in Linux/Debian?
I was poking around to see why my old Linux/Debian box was rarely and randomly crashing with kernel panics. I read that its errors can be found in /var/log/syslog (dmesg didn't show me anything related to Kernel panics that I could find): # cat /var/log/syslog .... Upgraded my old Debian box to Kernel 2.6.32, but missing sensors datas and can't compile the latest stable NVIDIA driver.

I wanted to deploy a bunch of terminals whose only use is as remote desktops to a central server. While exploring suitable linux distros I found ThinStation Linux. http://www.thinstation.org/ Maybe there are others too. tsclient+rdesktop provides connectivity to all sorts of server-OS's I would think of connec... 5 Mar 2010 16:11
Access to LIS331DL gsensor chip
Hi, all. Lately I've been trying to build a linux driver to an accelerometer chipset, LIS331DL, embedded to a certain motherboard. System's BIOS has not been updated as to fit current gsensors linux drivers in (communities releases and so). We are positive that the device naturally inputs/outputs info through ve... 5 Mar 2010 13:55

Daemon for processing evdev events (kinda like LIRC)
Hi there, I was wondering if there is some daemon, that can attach itself to (preselected) evdev nodes and perform tasks on certain incoming events. In particular I'm thinking here of processing the multimedia keys of my notebook, without doing this using some programm running in my X session. At best this ... 1 Mar 2010 19:51
