Looking for MB / CPU suggestions...
It's time for me to be looking for something to replace my current motherboard... which has a short circuit somewhere in it. I'm looking for a Core I7, but I don't know if I should go with a 1366 part which has a locked multiplier, or go for a 1156 part with an unlocked multiplier. I guess I'm sorta leaning tow... 5 Jul 2010 13:16
Corrupted Files Over LAN

Best bang for buck w Gulftown vs Bloomfield
I'll be setting up a new system within the next month or two. Originally planned on Bloomfield, but a friend just demo'd the six core Gulftown, and damn, it was fast! And unfortunately expensive. Still...would be nice, especially if prices drop (around $1000 for CPU right now, I believe). I'm looking for perspec... 3 Jul 2010 15:40
Att all: Hardware Monitor App
A couple weeks back I posted a message asking for recommendations for a hardware monitor app. I received several helpful suggestions, none of which were quite what I was looking for. But in digging around, I came across something called Open Hardware Monitor. It did pretty much everything I was looking for, a... 27 Jun 2010 21:35
I give up on RAID
Well, it was a fun experiment while it lasted (all of two weeks). I have four physical drives in my system. Three of them are 1.5TB drives and about two weeks ago I tied them together into a single 4.5TB RAID 0 (striped) set which I partitioned for storage of various types of data. The fourth physical drive ... 28 Jun 2010 07:18

"No device!"
Having now added a fourth internal SATA hd to a machine built around an M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3, I get a "No device!" message at boot-up, but everything seems to work fine. Could this simply be because I have drives connected to SATA 1, 2, 3 and 5, skipping 4 (which is the eSATA port on the back)? Perce ... 18 Jun 2010 12:24

M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 -- O.C. Tuner problem
I've tried the O.C. Tuner feature in the BIOS, but I don't see anything happening: the machine boots into Windows 7, apparently as usual, and then nothing else happens. Even if it can't improve on the default settings, I would still expect it to tell me so. Perce ... 12 Jun 2010 18:10
P5Q Pro Turbo and RAID
I finally gave up on getting my old P5K Deluxe WiFi AP board to run reliably and switched my processor and memory and all the other hardware over to a P5Q Pro Turbo. Nice board -- it's running without problems. Should have done this ages ago. One of the features of the P5Q is something called Drive Xpert, whi... 12 Jul 2010 19:36
