Hey Chuck. Since you're using Fedora, I guess you'd be the best one
to ask. I've searched the Redhat FTP site and the YUM repository, but
I can't find WINE anywhere. Any helpful info on what you did to get
it installed and running?

Thanks!

The latest version is wine-0.9.43-2.fc7, and I got it from the yum
fedora updates repository.

When I do "yum search wine*" - I get the following:

Any ideas why? RHEL is actually a somewhat expensive version of Linux
and I'd hate to think they actually support Fedora better than RHEL :)
This might be my ignorance showing, but I'm at a loss on this one.

I might have an answer to my question - in linux.redhat.install
someone said WINE had to many security issues to be permitted in an
enterprise version of Linux. Add the fact that my processor doesn't
support "vmx" and I'm starting to get a little chaffed :)

I second that comment. Although, there are so things about it that
drive me nuts at times. Some of this is due to my dislike for Gnome
( seems not very responsive, not as flexible as I am accustomed to,
and some "artifacts" ) while the rest was due to a need to explore and
learn how to make it do what I want.

They basically just mirror the Debian repository with some additions
of their own + community contributions. This basically only covers
typical popular "general user" applications, though. I still rely
heavily on the standard "tar... vi README... vi INSTALL... ./config...
vi Makefile... make... install" ritual for the non-mainstream fun that
I get into.

I am confident that the adoption numbers support this view.
