Power Supply and Processor Exhaust Fan
Hi I did end just replacing both fans. Regarding the power supply fan, I just replaced the entire power supply. I bought the processor exhaust fan on line at ebay, because Dell didn't have any in stock. The fan was noisy, so I took your advise and lubricated it with spray silicone with teflon. That quieted... 22 Jan 2006 02:11

toshiba 430cdt trouble
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 430 CDT. It came with Windows 95 installed and there was a program to create a backup copy of Windows 95 (28 Diskettes). Over time some of the diskettes had gotten corrupted so I got a CD copy of Win 95 a while back. Recently I decided to clean everything off and start over and so I f... 18 Jan 2006 17:37
ntbtlog.txt
Hi Is it normal to have lots of "Did not load driver" in the log file? The system (WinXPpro, SP2) is completely stable but takes a while to boot up (i.e. the progress type bar on the startup screen does about 10 cycles). And, on another subject, when I've logged on, my LAN connection icon doesn't appear in th... 17 Jan 2006 12:10
Noisy CPU fan
Hi, I find my PCs (no matter PII, P4) produce big noise after power up and most of the noise being produced by CPU fan. I haven't tried overclocking in any of these PCs and I even open the case to improve ventilation but with no improvement. I would like to know how can I reduce that noise due to CPU fan ? ... 24 Jan 2006 13:14

Splicing cat.5 cable
My dog chewed up a section of cat.5 cable from my router to a computer. Really. Now that we've eaten the dog, I have to repair the damage. The cable is routed through the ceiling of the house and I REALLY don't want to do that again, so I'm hoping I can just get another length of cable and splice it to the exist... 16 Jan 2006 19:28
Seagate ST310014A master password?
Hi all. Just been trying to unlock an Xbox drive to use on a very old PC that won't support the newer high density drives. Unfortunately the mainboard and EEPROM are long since gone, so does anyone know of a way to force the "Secure Erase" option as the data on the drive is unimportant. FYI the Seagate driv... 13 Jan 2006 18:44
Hubs VS Routers?
1) In simple terms, what is the difference between a HUB and a ROUTER? 2) Are all ROUTERS 4-port, or do they come 2-port or even more than 4? 3) Can HUBS really be daisy-chained to as many as 200 ports? 4) Can ROUTERS be daisy-chained at all? Thanks Geezer ... 10 Jan 2006 10:14
Acer computer with Windows 98-SE locks up
My friend's computer started locking up when she was on the internet. Her brother tried to work on it and look for a virus. He found a couple of viruses and thought he had removed them. It still was locking up, but we used the restore disk to go back to factory settings. Now it will go until it starts to load t... 11 Jan 2006 00:54
