USB webcam and SuSE 10?
Hi all, I decided to give AMSN a try because it supports webcams. After installing the package i plugged in my Logitec webcam for the first time. After searching for a while in Yast and the KDE config center i came to the stunning conclusion that there is not such thing as "USB support" in Yast/KDE config cent... 14 Feb 2006 10:14
Changing boot loader configuration
Currently I have SuSE's bootloader (GRUB) installed in the root partition, /dev/hdb5 in this case. Along with other OS', it is booted by a third party bootloader (GAG). GAG does not recognize reiserfs, so SuSE is in turned chained to an ext3-based Linux distro. Anyhow, I am inclined to put SuSE's bootloader into th... 10 Feb 2006 08:27
Brother printer
I bought a Brother HL2040, for various reasons, and, after a bit of playing, got it installed using the Brother HL2060 CUPS driver, under both 9.3 and 10.0(64bit). For several reasons, I did a reinstall and the HL2060 CUPS driver would not work. So, I went to the Brother site and found that they had not written a... 6 Feb 2006 22:58

How does PPPD modify Bind nameserver forwarders?
Can anyone tell me how PPPD integrates with BIND under SuSe 10? I have clicked "PPPD Daemon sets Forwarders" under DNS configuration in YaST. I notice in /etc/named.conf, there is an include line: include "/etc/named.d/forwarders.conf"; I check the /etc/named.d/forwarders.conf and although it contains: # F... 3 Feb 2006 13:29
coldplug kernel panic
I'm trying to set up a Dell 2350 with dual heads, and whenever I add a second video card coldplug hangs when booting. I disabled coldplug with the boot parameter "NOCOLDPLUG=yes", and it successfully boots, but critical system components appear to go uninitialized (like sound and network.) Running the coldplug... 3 Feb 2006 20:44
not booting
Hi, I've a Suse 9.3 installation that has been running on a bag of bolts system for the last six months. This morning, I decided to tidy up the box (put the covers on, bolt in the hard drive etc) which I did. I had to pull the plug on it to start with though as there was no keyboard, mouse or monitor attac... 4 Feb 2006 14:52
Wine
Wine problem. Wine installs programs into the windows directory (Program Files). Problem is you can change to that directory to run the program. The C:\ emulator does not recognize "Program Files" as a directory. So what is it that I do not know? ... 2 Feb 2006 03:01

Hi there I'm using suse 10.0 on i586 platform. I'm getting the usual legal notices when I try to play a dvd with xine, totem and Kaffeine. I have installed libdvdcss but it is not turning up in the xine log as being loaded (which is interesting). What's the easiest way round this stupid dvd issue? I had a... 27 Jan 2006 04:55
