Cookie conundrum
A friend of mine who is quite paranoid about security has become curious about cookies, and has noticed some strange behaviour on her iMac. (2.4 GHz Intel iMac running Snow Leopard with everything up to date.) She uses three browsers, Safari as first preference, FireFox only for sites which Safari doesn't like,... 6 Feb 2010 13:00
"Mark NG read and move to next NG" in Thunderbird
There is a key to do this in NewsWatcher. Anyone know if there's such a key in Tbird? And is there a way to have Tbird initially display an NG with threads collapsed? Thx. -- Tim "That excessive bail ought not to be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted" B... 2 Feb 2010 17:15

Little Snitch
I've just installed Little Snitch, and I'm puzzled by a couple of things it's reporting on: 1. A process called rsmac_3630 keeps talking to cn1.redswoosh.akadns.net. (This seems to be connected with my trial version of Adobe CS.) But even though I've told LS to block all connections from rsmac_3630, and all ... 18 Feb 2010 06:09

Logitech Touch Mouse (free)
Had this recommended to me by a friend of SWMBO's - Touch Mouse. It's an app that runs on your iPhone (or presumably your iPod touch) that turns it into a Magic Mouse. You need to run the server software on your Mac (available here: <http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/494/6367&hub=1&cl=us,en?section=downloads> ... 2 Feb 2010 17:14

iPad in the UK
OK, so the UK site doesn't mention the iPad yet. And the US site says that iBooks is only available in the USA. Presumably they've not got deals with UK publishers. I'd said yesterday that I prefer a paper book, but seeing the iBook implementation made me wonder whether Apple is going to shake up publishing the... 2 Feb 2010 17:16
