Lovefilm online viewing
Has anyone used this? I watched a film via streaming for the first time today, and it -murdered- my machine. The mouse cursor jerked, I couldn't quit the video, couldn't alt-tab, couldn't force-quit (as in couldn't even bring the dialog up). I eventually had to hard-power off the machine at the end of the film.... 20 Dec 2009 18:02
Mac Soup - Kagi advice please
I've read the announcement and comments about the latest release of MacSoup and it sounds like what I might look for in my gradual move from Windows to Mac. My real question is about Kagi - not a payment system I have ever used or heard of. Being mildly paranoid, anyone like to re-assure me please? -- ... 20 Jan 2010 04:02

iPhone lost itunes content
Never had this problem before so I'm curious to know if it's a known bug. I selected the ipod app on my iphone (3gs with all the updates) this morning after leaving the house and got the message telling me there is no itunes content on the device. Really strange since I sync before leaving in the morning after d... 15 Dec 2009 16:44
Why would wireless wobble?
About six months ago I installed a wireless ADSL modem at the behest of my ISP, who were unwilling to investigate my abysmal broadband speed unless I used their modem. It worked perfectly satisfactorily until last Saturday, when the transfer rate dropped to almost nothing. On Sunday I lost connection and could n... 18 Dec 2009 08:19
White MacBook case
Anyone had a split on the edge of the base which matches the bits that sticks out on the lid? I've had one replaced and now the replacement is spitting. Seems to be a design fault which Apple recognized in e-mails to me at the time of the first reply but to fail twice seems to suggest they have not fixed it. ... 1 Jan 2010 11:56
NTFS file system
A friend of mine recently purchased a Verbatim USB/Firewire portable hard drive. He wants to use it exclusively on WinXP with NTFS. The drive came formatted for Macs. It shows up in Disk Utility as Mac OS Extended Journaled with a GUID partition map. The partion shows as Mac OS Extended. How can I reformat this ... 14 Dec 2009 06:38

[iPhone] Safari gripe: scrolling
Scrolling a long page in Safari on the iPhone could do with some work. For example, look at this page: <http://science.slashdot.org/story/09/12/12/2246208/The-Limits-To-Skepticism?art_pos=3> Long, right? No problem on the deskop because you just pick up the scrollbar with the mouse and drag. But now try it ... 13 Dec 2009 05:39
Burn.app and Mac OSX 10.6
A while ago I seem to recall someone saying that Burn.app (http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net) didn't work under 10.6.x - it would get so far and bomb out with some error. I've just used to it burn an AVI to disk without any problems. It transcoded it to MPEG2, then burned it without problems. The only thing I did ... 12 Dec 2009 11:19
