Flip4Mac includes Silverlight
How typically Microsoftian. Now when you download and install Flip4Mac to play WMVs in Quicktime Player, the package installs Silverlight by default. If you don't want Silverlight (and I certainly don't) you have to customise the install to remove it. -- Pd ... 30 Dec 2009 18:44

Connecting Home Network to Office network
Any suggestions on what I need to do to get my home network to connect to my office network? The office has a VPN and I can, for example, use my iPod Touch to connect over my internet connection and via the VPN to my office exchange server, to check my office email. I guess the problem is that my home and offi... 29 Dec 2009 13:03
Quicktime Player X/MobileMe sharing
Am trying to use Quicktime Player X* for sharing a video using MobileMe. Mobile Me is fully accessible and I'm able to access iDisk without trouble. Quicktime Player, however, doesn't seem to want to play. It exports fine, then goes to 'Publishing...', then says 'The request timed out'. Which is nonsense, si... 29 Dec 2009 07:30

3G usage monitor?
Hi, I use a 3G usb dongle to access the net while away from home, and as is usual with these things, I'm limited to a set amount of usage. Unfortunately the usage monitoring software that came with the dongle is 'buggy' to say the least, meaning I cannot track how much of the 'allowance' I have utilised. ... 30 Dec 2009 16:31

Christmas gift for everyone: Macintosh-compatible IKEA planner
As you may know, IKEA's Kitchen and other planners are currently Windows-only. But not for much longer - they are piloting a new web-based system. It's not widely available yet, but here's how to use it (Safari - other browsers may be a little different): 1. Go to IKEA's Danish site <http://kitchenplanner... 23 Dec 2009 13:59
A MobileMe Renewal Question
Hi Folks, What's the deal with renewing MobileMe? The account management says it'll automatically renew in 54 days, so does this mean I just sit there and wait? Money leavs bank, no questions asked? Naturally I don't want to not have access to the service as I rather like it for the Idisk side. Is the renewa... 23 Dec 2009 13:59
Sound issue
I run itunes from a G4 quicksilver through an amp to provide music for the whole house. All the vocal sound now appears as if it is in the background (for CDs aswell). I thought it may be the amp blowing a channel but I tested it using a friend's machine and it's fine. Is the headphone socket (from where the phonos... 4 Jan 2010 07:03
