Mail refuses to send emails
Hi, I have trouble setting up Mail to send any kind of email. My company has 2 servers. Server 1 uses IMAP/SSL + SMTP + SSL with authentication, Server 2 is an exchange server and uses plain SMTP with authentication. Frustrated with Apple Care service
Took my computer to an Apple-authorized service center last Tuesday for hard-drive problems that the Apple hardware test tool identified. On the basis of this ID, I was told by Apple to take it in. The Apple guy (a service center with only one Apple tech) was out that day at a service call. He looked at it the next... 4 Dec 2006 01:40

I called a local Mac show and they were adamant that the Canopus ADVC110 was the one and only way worth considering. Then there's chatter about EyeTV, which I assume has the same general feature set. If I'm going t... 30 Sep 2006 17:24

Hi, I am new to downloading par and par2 files, so please excuse my ignorance. I am using Mac OS X 10.2.8. I have just downloaded some par2 files from "alt.binaries.multimedia.scifi" group and was able to use a Mac program called "Chunkjoiner" to join them together. However the finished file has no file exte... 3 Aug 2006 20:34
compressing aiff files
I'm shifting some of my old audio cassettes to cd and find that some of them are just a little long to squeeze onto a cd. Is there any way of compressing an aiff file (just a little! the sound quality loss isn't a problem since the cassettes aren't perfect to start with) to burn on a cd that will work in a regular ... 15 Jun 2006 13:21

DVD backup
I've been backing up my DVD's by recompressing them with DVD2oneX or DVDRemaster, and then burning them with Toast 6 Titanium. Usually this works fine, but I've got a couple of DVD's that have been giving me problems. I can copy them on to my hard drive with no problem, and recompress them with no problem, but wh... 25 Sep 2005 14:21
