File system for NAS
I'm looking into buying a network attached storage drive for my Mac, which has FireWire 800, 400, and USB 2, in addition to gigabit ethernet. I plan on attaching the device to the FW800 port. I'll be using the drive as a back up for my Mac, but I'll also be storing photos and videos with file sizes larger than 4G... 24 Dec 2009 15:09
Scanner Driver for Canon MF4150 Multifunction Printer
This multifunction works just fine under Windows but hooked up to my new Mac (OSX SL 10.6.2), it will only print or fax. Short ... 23 Dec 2009 19:39
Mail problem resumes
I posted earlier about Not bering able to quit Mail except by a forced quit. The problem seems to be associated with a loop that keeps the spinning spokes going while Mail is trying to log on. I had though that the problem went away spontaneously. That is not the case. I still get spinning. at that time, the s... 25 Dec 2009 19:04
Brother Control Center
I have been using the Brother MFC 8650D for several years now. For scanning, I was using The Brother ControlCenter 2. When I converted to Snow Leopard, ControlCenter did not transfer to the new system. I tried to download that from the Brother site, but navigating the site seems to be more obscure than ever. I ... 23 Dec 2009 13:45
Sound issue
I run itunes from a G4 quicksilver through an amp to provide music for the whole house. All the vocal sound now appears as if it is in the background (for CDs aswell). I thought it may be the amp blowing a channel but I tested it using a friend's machine and it's fine. Is the headphone socket (from where the phonos... 22 Dec 2009 08:08
Would the rumoured/anticipated Tablet be a full Mac OS X system?
Ramble post. Maybe off topic. Perhaps not. Let's begin with my desired configuration for a tablet Mac. - A dual-core Atom running up to 2 GHz with at least 2 GB of DDR2/1066 RAM. - A hard disk. Yes, you heard me! A hard disk. eg: 250 GB Toshiba 7mm thin drive. - Mac OS X 10.6 - 1920x1080 screen of at le... 6 Jan 2010 08:52
Mail Problems
I am using Apple Mail on my new computer after transferring information from an old volume. I have several accounts. All seem to work well except for one. For this one, I get the spinning spokes when I am downloading new messages. When that is happening,I cannot quit gracefully. I have to force quit. I am ab... 23 Dec 2009 13:45

MacbookPro 13" driving 1080p TV ?
I know I can get a : Mini Display to DVI adaptor and a DVI to HDMI adaptor. I know that the Macbook Pro has enopugh humph (just enough) to play a 1080p movie, scaled to fit the 13" screen. Would it be safe to assume that it could therefore play a 1080p movie through the mini display port and on an 1080P TV ... 15 Dec 2009 23:21
