Running Web Servers In A Chroot Jail
I have seen the instructions for running Lighttpd in a chroot jail at: http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/howto-setup-lighttpd-php-mysql-chrooted-jail.html These instructions involve a lot of copying of binaries to the jail. This would mean, I assume, that if I were to execute the: apt-get update command the binaries ... 21 Mar 2010 08:17

Update RHEL 5.1 to 5.4
Hi all, I have a server currently running RHEL 5.1, and I would like to upgrade it to RHEL 5.4. The server is not connected to the Internet, so I don't think I can use "yum update". How would I be able to upgrade my server, and is it just a small-scale upgrade, like Windows patches, leaving everything on the s... 18 Mar 2010 14:18

Debain DNS Documentation Discrepancy, .ref or .db?
I have a point of confusion in the document: http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/network-administrator/ch-bind.html under "8.4.2.1 zone files." It appears there is discrepancy in a file name extension here. This section refers to the path and filename "/var/named/192.168.100.db" and gives an example of it. If I und... 15 Mar 2010 06:47
Bash Commandline Overwrites Itself
I recently installed a new linux and this was driving me nuts, so I figured someone else might be having the same problem and would appreciate the solution. When I'd type or cut&paste a long command on the commandline, instead of continuing on a new line it overwrote itself. The solution is to put this in you... 13 Mar 2010 13:05
