On-line banking
This may be slightly off topic, but I would like to take your views of banks whose on-line services behave well with Linux browsers (particularly Epiphany 2.14.1). This latest update has a new user agent string which seems to make it look different enough to plain Firefox that my bank (The Royal Bank of Scotland) ... 20 May 2006 03:20
Edimax EW-7628IG driver
Hi, Does anybody have experience of the Edimax EW-7628IG wireless LAN PCI card? It's sold by dabs.com as the DabsValue MIMO-XR 54Mbps PCI Card. Looking at the specs it comes with drivers for "Linux Series", but I can't find any more information. Are they binary only for specific distros, or do they provide s... 4 May 2006 03:08
Someone's knocking on my door
The last few days I've been watching someone (or possibly various people) trying out a set of user names on my sshd port without success. The attacks appear to be automated. A "whois" lookup on the ip addresses shows different organisations in different countries. The question is is it worth e-mailing the conta... 13 Apr 2006 17:15
UK Broadband
Hi, I'm currently trying to size up which ADSL ISP to go for having just installed AOL on windows for a friend of mine, and been embarrassed by how painless it was. I'm considering Pipex, but I wondered if anyone had any good tails/horror stories about ISPs in the UK. I'm particularly interested in... Linux sup... 20 Apr 2006 09:22
Skype - Port 443 traffic to ??
On my squid proxy, I am seeing interesting IP addresses popping up for port 443. The one that really caught my eye was dhcp-129-64-174-189.dorm.brandeis.edu:https which appears to be a very odd location for a SSL-secured HTTP server. Following the trail back to the client, I found that Skype is opening these co... 26 Mar 2006 15:35

How To Set Default Browser (Debian/KDE)
I has issues with Epiphany crashing constantly, so I uninstalled it - Synaptic uninstalled Gnome as well but I'm using KDE. How do I set Firefox as my default browser please? Compiling for 32-bit on AMD64
I'm trying to compile a 32-bit Firefox (Deer Park 1.5) on AMD64 Ubuntu. I've got as far as experimentally running the configure script to see what else I need 32-bit versions of besides ia32-libs-dev etc. I'm using CFLAGS=-m32 and an identical CXXFLAGS. I'm also passing --build=i686-linux --target=i686-linux to con... 9 Feb 2006 04:41
Media Servers
Having just bought a Philips Streamium SL50i I'm looking for a decent UPNP media server to run on FC4. ATM I'm using Philips Media Manager on my XP box with all my MP3s and video files on a shared Samba drive, which obviously isn't the most efficient use of resources. Two servers I've found are mediatomb (which d... 8 Feb 2006 08:25
