Firestarter reinstallation - Lost menu items
I installed Firestarter in Ubuntu Karmic and then removed it. When I now reinstall it the menu items are not recreated. I have used both "Ubuntu Software Centre" and Synaptic to no avail. I have even cleaned the file system using the packaged file lists using "sudo nautilus" but Firestarter somehow seems to "... 21 Nov 2009 08:08

HP refund on pre-installed Windows
Bought a netbook and considered going for a refund on the Windows and installing Linux. Noticed on startup that HP's terms and conditions are now that if you do not agree to the MS and HP EULAs, the only refund option is to return the ENTIRE package including the hardware. Neat fit up. ... 20 Nov 2009 21:19

Linux for the elderly?
I have always considered that Linux may become more widely used as a niche OS; my thoughts were more on specialist desktops for children, and I have set up several machines with some success in this way. Here is a different take: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8352606.stm The key to this is going to... 16 Nov 2009 11:17
