Wireshark query
I've just been tearing my hair out trying to decode a winmail.dat file with Wireshark. 'file' confirms that the file is in TNEF format. Wireshark does understand TNEF: its in the supported protocols list and enabled. My problem is in getting wireshark or tshark to read the file. The closest I've got was by r... 27 Nov 2009 21:08
Tor problem
I don't actually have any need for Tor as yet, but the way our governemnt is going I thought it time to try out these services 'just in case'. I'm using debian squeeze and trying privoxy 3.0.12-2 and tor 0.2.1.19-1 (the defaults for squeeze). In the first place privoxy won't start at switch on, but after some ... 5 Dec 2009 09:38

Rhythmbox is thick!
Rhythmbox has just pissed me off by: 1. Extracting all the tracks from a CD, not just the ones I wanted and had selected 2. Asking if I want to overwrite existing file, if I say Y it overwrites it and if I say N it skips the track. The CD has multiple tracks with the same same. This is intention. 1-9 are instrumen... 24 Nov 2009 19:02
DeviceKit and/or udev seem to be DOSing my Fedora 11 box
Hi all, (note: long, and full of impenetrable stuff which might have no use at all) I rarely post to newsgroups these days, but reading threads and Googling hasn't helped, so... Something is eating my Fedora 11 (I'll upgrade to 12 once it's on a magazine cover disc) box's resources and making everything ... 23 Nov 2009 16:23
Firefox opening PHP URLs (reading email)
Hi I use plusnet webmail (It's actually Squirrelmail) and Firefox has today stopped opening messages. The URL for a message is something like (obscured) https://webmail.plus.net/src/read_body.php?mailbox=INBOX&passed_id=9999&startMessage=1 Firefox has started coming up with "You have tried to open body.p... 23 Nov 2009 19:47

Why do newbies go for 64 bits?
I notice, over on the WINE users list, that a lot of newbies go straight for the 64 bit version of Ubuntu and stick with it despite the fact that WINE-64 doesn't work yet and installing the 32 bit libraries to run 32 bit WINE is hassle that could be avoided by running a 32 bit Ubuntu. 64 is a bigger number than... 25 Nov 2009 19:31
