Open source asm2c
Hi, Does anyone know if there is a FOSS equivalent to the commercial asm2c application? I have a small number of x86 assembler files that I need converting over to C (is convert the right word or would port be better?) and begrudge forking out for the a package I'll only ever use once. dhcp dilema
About five weeks ago we moved to a new office at a new location. This meant a new broadband link taken of our incoming fax line. We use a Linksys ADSL Wirelss Modem/Router (WAG54GS). This seems to go down intermittently, twice now requiring a reset to factory defaults. While this is irritating, what is worse is thi... 12 Sep 2006 16:06

Jukebox programs
Can anyone recommend a reasonable jukebox program? I used to use juk, but have since upgraded to Suse 10.1 (half a day's swearing) and the installed version doesn't support mp3s. And whilst I don't mind compiling my own stuff, I draw the line at half of KDE and it wasn't that good anyway. So any recommendations? I ... 23 Aug 2006 18:34

Ubuntu Printer Problem
I am not sure if this is related to the weird way Ubuntu uses the root password or not but at the time of installation my Printer (Epsom Stylus Photo 890) worked fine. I have not knowingly altered any printer settings but have lost my ability to print - as a result I have deleted and tried to reinstall printers t... 1 Aug 2006 15:14

Ubuntu root password
Hi, I've just installed Ubuntu 5.10 on my son's laptop but have hit a problem. Unlike FC, Ubuntu doesn't ask you top set a default root password. Does anyone know what it is? TTFN Paul -- "Logic, my dear Zoe, is merely the ability to be wrong with authority" - Dr Who ... 21 Jul 2006 17:01
using dd to wipe a disk
I know the command dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/hda bs=? count=? can be used to fill a disk with random bytes and is a good way to clean it prior to recycling or reselling. However, it is slow due to the random number generation. Substituting /dev/zero makes it run around 22 times faster but is not quite as s... 28 May 2006 04:12
