10.4 - Keychain not saving passwords
I've seen this problem on a few Macs (all on 10.4) in the office: the main project volume is stored on our XServe (10.5). Everyone has an alias of that in their sidebar or set it up as a login item. For some reason though, on some machines, Keychain won't save the password (checkbox has been ticked), popping ... 15 Jul 2010 23:06
'You are not connected to the internet'
Since applying the last OS update (Snow Leopard 10.6.4) I have started getting a lot of these error messages when browsing all kinds of different sites in Safari, and Firefox reports a 'cannot find server' messages similarly. My router appears to be on and functioning normally, all lights lit etc. It's incredibly ... 15 Jul 2010 12:05
TextMate, adding a new command, Linux command line Q
I've added a new command to the Text bundle on my system. I use it to massage some copy/pasted output from another system. First it uses 'cut' to remove the stuff that I don't need, then it uses 'sed' to rearrange the data, I end up with three columns, the third of which I'd like to add up. Awk can do this, and I... 16 Jul 2010 06:39

Cups or what?
Hi All, I'm trying to sort out a printer problem between an Apple laptop (10.5) and a (new) Canon printer (MX350). Looking on the Canon website there are two drivers for that model and 10.5: http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0037993.asp?model= and http://software.canon-europe.com/software/00386... 15 Jul 2010 13:12

Time Capsule failures
Not sure if it's come up here about the Time capsule failures. Charles Arthur has written about it here: <http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2010/jul/13/apple-time-capsul e-failure-analysis> The dodgy ones have a serial number in a particular range (XX807XXXXXX - XX814XXXXXX) - mine's XX910 which is enc... 14 Jul 2010 17:39

Magic Mouse battery life
I have a Magic Mouse, delivered with my iMac a week ago. Looking at the description in the Bluetooth tab, it says the battery charge on the mouse is 82%. Does this mean that they should last about 12 weeks before they need changing? Which, incidentally, doesn't seem like a hugely long time. -- Peter ... 20 Jul 2010 00:33
