The one we had in my last church was omni, per the label. Most likely a
china ripoff, especially considering the source for his 2 for 1 w/l special
that could not be used when other mics were running due to cross-talk.

That is another contender, though the Neumann might be a better match for
the use, but then again, does it really matter if it is officially a "drum
mic" if it works well in the application?

If I ever go back I'll have to ask. My wife had the time and attention
that night, not the performers. We just sat together at the intermission
and enjoyed each other.

Which means it wasn't actually an SM58 of course.

A year or so ago I saw a lot of obvious Sennheiser rip-offs on ebay UK. You could tell
from the grille (and the price !).
