How to fix PS conducted interference triggers RCD?
Hi there, A friend bought a Taiwanese made switchmode power supply that delivers 0 - 24 V at several amps. Problem is that it triggers his RCD (Residual Current Device, Core Balance Relay) in normal use. He asked me to take a look, since the nuisance tripping is major annoyance. Seems the RCD is rectify... 25 Jul 2010 19:27
blast from past
I spent most of the day building this. ftp://jjlarkin.lmi.net/V220_Test_Front.jpg ftp://jjlarkin.lmi.net/V220_Test_Back.jpg which is a fixture to help test/cal a new VME module. It's powered by a 48-volt wall wart. Those old-fashioned teevee type terminal strips, and rotary switches, are pretty cool. This re... 3 Aug 2010 03:49

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100724/ap_on_re_eu/eu_germany_love_parade_deaths_5 What's weird is that such people-crushing panics don't seem to happen in the US or the UK. Anybody who has been in the French Quarter at Mardi Gras, or Times Square on New Years Eve, will appreciate the potential for panic. But it... 13 Aug 2010 03:50
Motor Load vs HP vs Current
If I have a motor that is being overloaded ~2x it's rated will doubling the HP improve this? I have a 1/2HP Direct drive 1P, 120V, 1075RPM blower motor that is drawing 12A while it is rated at 6.5A Full load, 9A max and only spinning at about 700RPM. [No load it draws 3A] The problem I was having is any time ... 9 Aug 2010 09:00
bluffing fools
http://jons-math.bravehost.com/transfer.html You guys aren't much help. You say it's wrong but can't come up with anything yourselves. My guess is you don't know your stuff, you just like to hack a good thing. If you think you're so smart, design a circuit yourselves and tell me. Any takers? ... 30 Jul 2010 22:56
Sending commands to a GPS module
I have a SSF2929P gps module which I wish to enable the ZDA string. If I apply power to the module it happily spits out data, finds sattelites etc and displays results on my terminal, but nothing I send to the module will stop the flow of data and put it into a mode to accept the commands. I'm beginning to think ... 26 Jul 2010 01:56

Let's Take A Vote...
Let's Take A Vote... While I write this up, hopefully sometime this weekend, let me ask for votes... How many think, as Larkin opines, "charge is not conserved" ?? How many think charge IS conserved ?? Just curious what I'm up against here. ...Jim Thompson -- ... 7 Aug 2010 18:00
