Inspiron 1750 Win 7 upgrade observations
Finally got around to installing Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium on my Inspiron 1750. Booting from the Dell-branded upgrade DVD, I selected "custom install" and chose to wipe the previous Windows partition to enable a clean install; all this nonsense about giving existing directories an .old extension is too messy... 21 Nov 2009 11:24
2nd linksys WAP54G wireless access point?
To accommodate more than 50 mac addresses, a 2nd wireless access point seems to be called for. Would it be cleanest to set one up as an independent network name (I assume its ip address can be changed from the default of 192.168.1.245 so it won't interfere with the other one)? Or is one of the confusing re... 18 Nov 2009 23:34
Dell D505 user guide ?
just picked up a used Dell D505 from school, and wanted the User Guide. Found this - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd505/en/index.htm but after downloading and opening, there is the usual left side nav, but nothing shows on the right side - only error messages ?? -- -----------------------... 16 Nov 2009 14:37
Processor upgrade for Inspiron 530S desktop
I installed the processor that I had planned to purchase, but had to buy an aftermarket cooler from CompUSA. The cooler is a little noisy, but otherwise it's working great. I have 2 1TB Seagate Green Hard Drives running in RAID, and it's smooth as silk. :) [image: http://www.hughesitsolutions.com/images/dell1.jpg... 14 Nov 2009 00:20

Dell in China?
Just ordered an Inspiron 1750 for the neighbour's teenage daughter (entry level jobbie, nothing fancy, just for schoolwork etc) and the Walsh Western tracking facility indicates the laptop has just left China? Are Dell shipping from their these days? Every Dell I've ever bought (here in the UK) has shipped from... 13 Nov 2009 02:14

No 950?
After watching Dell's prices for a while, I was just about to order an XPS 9000 with a Core i7 950. All of a sudden, it's not an option any more. (It was there the day before I decided to order!) The 8000 isn't quite powerful enough and the Extreme processors and Alienware are TOO much. The 950 would have be... 9 Nov 2009 14:22
power supply
Hi all I need to check my power supply on a Dell dimension 8100. I think I may have fried it. I inadvertently pushed on a power connector to a hard drive while I had the computer was on, it arced slightly and went dead. If the supply is bad I am going to take a chance on a replacement $25.00. If it g... 3 Nov 2009 23:47
Repetitive Re-Booting Problem
I have a Dell XPS-Z 866Mhz Pentium 3, with 384mb and a 20Gig hard drive that is only two thirds full.. When I power the system on it tends to reset and start over at varying point during the booting sequence. I usually get to a point where I have to press "DEL" to get it to re-boot, and sometimes I make it as fa... 13 Nov 2009 22:09
