HP 49G+ INFORM Field Specifier
Hello, How would I use a CHOOSE box instead of a label inside of a field specifier? For example: \<< "CIRCULAR CURVE SOLVER" { "RADIUS =" "ARC ="} { 1 1 } { NOVAL NOVAL } { NOVAL NOVAL } \>> I would like the first field specifier to be: \<< "1ST PARAMETER:" { "RADIUS" "DELTA" "ARC" "TANGENT" } 1 CHOO... 22 Dec 2009 11:29
My HP48 256 kB is fixed! I want to test it.. [using CRC]

SpeedUI - Important update to v. 9.08
Hello all, thank you for your patience. SpeedUI 9.08 is a bugfix release only, but it's strongly recommended to update from an older version, since the v 9.08 fixes some display and keyboard related bugs, as well as one serious bug in the MsgBox library, which caused a crash. Many thanks to the users who ... 19 Dec 2009 07:17
loops in ML
I am currently rewriting some code that writes data to the display. For anyone who has experience in timings of loops: How much overhead (timewise) does a loop cost versus unrolling the loop if the loop is fairly short? (I am trying to optimize some code for speed and size) Also, is there any other method for co... 10 Dec 2009 12:17
Partial derivative of order n
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Let's say I want to evaluate \[ \frac{\partial f^5}{\partial x^2 \partial y^3}f(x,y), \] for a sufficiently differentiable f(x,y), with my HP 50g. I can do it manually, /i.e/ using the \partial command, but it becomes tedious when one needs to evaluate some... 9 Dec 2009 11:02
HP48G back to life...
Hi, Many, many years ago I had upgraded my Hp48G to 256kb, but in the process I broke the keyboard unfortunately. I kept using it for a while, but later I stopped due to that keyboard problem. Currently I will be needing my old calc again, so I dug it up in the attic. Last week I (once again) disassembled it com... 4 Dec 2009 18:30
Limiting number of solutions in CAS
Hi all. I'm using HP40gs calculators (with the same CAS as the 49 series). How do I limit the number of solutions returned when solving 2 sin(x)^2 -1 = 0? The CAS correctly returns odd integer multiples of pi/4 as the solution, but they're written in terms of variables n1 and n2. Is there any way to return the solu... 2 Dec 2009 16:40
Analogon to 28S' FORM on the HP 50g
Hi, On the HP 28S is a command called FORM. Does anybody here knows it? It is used to reformat expressions. E.g. with it you can pretty easy transform 'X+Y' into 'Y+X'. I now have had a hard time trying to transform '1/(SQRT(2*pi)*EXP(X^2/2))' into '1/SQRT(2*pi)*EXP(-X^2/2)' on the HP 50g, but no chance. Do... 3 Dec 2009 02:41
UH calculator contest challenge
I don't know how many of you followed the thread regarding the University of Houston high school calculator contest, but it seems clear that it wasn't really expected that anyone would be able to solve the last problem on a pocket calculator, especially in the 1-hour timeframe. I don't know about the capabilities ... 7 Dec 2009 22:54
mini-challenge from UH contest
I know Joe usually puts forth the challenges, but there's a problem that I think falls into the spirit of such. In the Univ. of Houston Calculator contest that has been discussed in another thread, there is the following question: 19) Give the number of positive integers that are no larger than 1,100 and are no... 3 Dec 2009 11:28
